MENOPAUSE YOGA

A five week course offered both in person and online.

All of my Yoga classes are taught from a Vinyasa Krama therapeutic approach, they are step by step and accessible to all. You don’t need to touch your toes to practice Yoga! The beauty of Yoga is all about gradual development and self discovery.

During the class we move through a curve of intensity, balancing the Vayus which are directions of energetic vibrations that govern the physiological cycles of the body.

A balanced practice calms the nervous system and we bring ourselves into alignment, to open up to the ‘wisdom within’. Through a series of Kriyas (cleansing techniques) Pranayama (breathing techniques) Asana (postures) Meditation and Relaxation. Restorative Yoga is used within the relaxation practice to help balance hormonal fluctuations and sooth the nervous system.

We begin to transform the relationship between the body and the mind, finding that we move through life with an inward focus and reflection.

Each class looks at the phases and symptoms of Menopause, and how Yoga can in many cases ease these symptoms. There is no ‘silver bullet’ that can stop all of our symptoms, but we can learn various techniques to aid us through this phase of our lives, that every Woman will go through at some point.

It is a Natural phase of transformation, which is also known in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) as a Woman’s ‘Second spring’. Menopause Yoga also brings in Yin Yoga, and mindful movements of Qigong, incorporating and stimulating the energetic system of the Meridians, acupressure points within the body to bring about wellbeing and balance.

Together we flow through the phases of our lives as we flow through the transitional phases of nature.

This five week course covers the perimenopause, menopause and postmenopausal phases of a Woman’s life.

WOMB YOGA

A five week course offered both in person and online.

These Yoga classes are again taught from a Vinyasa Krama therapeutic approach, they are step by step and accessible to all, whether you have a ‘physical Womb’ or a ‘Womb space’ due to a hysterectomy.

Womb Yoga can be beneficial to those who struggle with symptoms of menstruation, perhaps issues around conceiving, menopausal effects around the whole reproductive system or for those who wish to connect to the Wisdom of the Womb and self discovery.

During the class we move through a curve of intensity, balancing the Vayus which are directions of energetic vibrations that govern the physiological cycles of the body.

A balanced practice calms the nervous system and we bring ourselves into alignment, to open up to the ‘wisdom within’. Through a series of Kriyas (cleansing techniques) to ease and shift past Traumas held within our Womb, Pranayama (breathing techniques) to draw more Chi into the Womb, to heal and energise, Asana (postures) to awaken our creativity and open our Hearts, Meditation to align to our True Self and Relaxation to embody the practices.

Restorative Yoga is used within the relaxation practice to help balance hormonal fluctuations and sooth the nervous system.

We begin to transform the relationship between the Womb the Heart and the Mind, bringing ourselves into alignment and listen to the Wisdom of your Womb.

FACE YOGA

An alternative to invasive cosmetic procedures.

A six week course online.

Just as the body from the shoulder downwards begins to move into a phase called sarcopenia or muscle depletion when we age. Approaching the menopause, low oestrogen in particular creates our muscles to waste. You may notice a sagging and thinness quality to your skin as its structure begins to disappear. The face is no different, yet we seem to outwardly focus when we exercise, go to the gym, swim, cycle or practice yoga on the lower body an forget about the face and the importance of those muscles.

Women in particular are bombarded with images that do not reflect the older Woman. We are pushed into cosmetic procedures to make us look younger and more attractive outwardly. Many of these procedures can be harmful and contain high levels of toxins, and can be high risk to facial nerves. I am unsure if they psychologically offer any lasting feelings of self worth and confidence?

Face Yoga offers an alternative. Just as we strengthen and look to maintain muscle mass as much as possible during the menopause, in our core and arms and legs, keeping us strong, mobile and balanced we can do the same for our facial muscles.
