My Journey

After the birth of my third child, due to complications I was left very unwell, both physically and mentally traumatised. I later underwent several operations, at one point I was in a wheelchair, had to change to an automatic car, the house was adapted to cater for my needs and I had severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) amongst a huge wave of debilitating symptoms.

During this period I found yoga. I felt the benefits of pranayama (breathing techniques) to ease my anxiety and enjoyed the strengthening postures, the benefits of practice and the subtle transformation started to emerge. I was breathing easier; the anxiety was losing its grip and my body was becoming stronger.

I felt so inspired by the transformational qualities that practicing Yoga brings, that I felt drawn to becoming a Yoga teacher myself. I spent 4 years studying with a beautiful teacher who also taught the ‘sister science of Yoga - Ayurveda’. This 3000 year old holistic practice addresses the healing and longevity of the physical body, the mind and the connection to our higher self. The system offers a pathway to radiant health through nutrition, herbs and spices, yoga practices, massage therapies and changes to lifestyle. I then spent a further 3 years training to become an Ayurvedic Health Care Coach and trained in Ayurvedic Massage

During this period of rehabilitation I felt drawn towards other holistic treatments and in particular how to heal myself from within on a multi dimensional level. I found the life changing system of Reiki.

After several treatments I was able to let go of the energetic trauma that was created years ago, all the memories, the night terrors, the pain that had sat stagnant consuming my life, had left my body and I was finally free and open to allow the healing to begin.

Just as the awakening and healing qualities that I experienced through Yoga and Ayurveda had inspired me to teach and share with others, I felt compelled to share the same qualities that Reiki can offer. I trained through the lineage of Western Reiki and deeper into the Japanese system, Zen meditation and Japanese culture.

On reflection 16 years forward, I have discovered that my symptoms held so many similarities to those of Western Women going through the Perimenopause. There is more and more evidence that suggests the wisdom that lies within every Woman, instinctively understands what is needed for their highest and greatest good.

By shutting down my reproductive capabilities at the point where I almost lost my life in childbirth, an inner knowing acted upon my best interests, it was just not recognised by myself or other health professionals.

Scientists have also recognised that many Women in War zones, refugees, or suddenly bereaved, they too can experience the early onset of menopause.

During the period of lockdown in 2022, I found yoga teacher training in the perimenopause, as I identified with so many of the symptoms and wanted to educate myself more on this subject and how I could aid myself and others. A segway from this training led me to ‘The Womb Cave’, where I discovered how to connect with the consciousness of my womb. In 2023 I trained to teach Menopause Yoga with the lovely Petra Coveney.

What I discovered from all the teachings was an ability to sit and move with the symptoms and deepen into the wisdom of the changes that were taking place. Through working with these sacred practices I discovered how to really heal. I have taken that wisdom and created teachings and courses to aid my fellow sisters, to navigate their change with empowering wisdom and transformation that is available to every Woman.
